6 Pillars of Character
Rachel Carson E.S. is a Character Counts! school. This means that we recognize six main pillars of character and have school rules to encourage students to display these character traits.
Responsibility – A responsible
Rachel Carson student makes wise choices and is a good example to
others.
Respect – A respectful Rachel
Carson student treats himself/herself and others with respect.
Caring – A caring Rachel
Carson student helps people in need and cares for the feelings of
others around him/her.
Trustworthiness – A
trustworthy Rachel Carson student will always tell the truth, thinks
independently, and follows the rules of the school.
Fairness – A fair Rachel
Carson student plays by the rules, considers others, and resolves
conflicts.
Citizenship – A good citizen
of Rachel Carson follows rules, stands up for himself/herself and
others, and is a team player.
Students can earn GREEN pillar points by exemplifying
one or more of these traits. RED pillar points are given to students
who behave contrary to these traits. See the Pillar Points page for
more details.
