RCES Yahoo! Group Information

What it is * How to join * Rules and Regs

What is the Yahoo! Group?

The RCES Yahoo! Group is a listserv that the RCES PTA uses to communicate timely information on PTA matters, school affairs and educational issues to members of our school community.  Anyone who is parent or staff at RCES can join the group.  In the interest of privacy, spam, and other concerns, outside parties are not permitted to join.

The Yahoo! Group is intended to be an interactive "bulletin board."  Typical postings include announcements, reminders of school meetings and events, requests for volunteers, emergency closing announcements, contact information, and educational topics.  It is not a forum for discussing specific teachers, students, parents or staff members.  Any hostile remarks are prohibited.

How do I join the Group?

Click on the Yahoo! Groups logo above and click the "Join this group" button, or send an email to RCES-PTA-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

Usage Privileges

The Yahoo! Group is monitored to insure its proper use.  Anyone who does not adhere to network guidelines will be warned.  Future violations could result in the user being removed as a subscriber.  Students may not use this network.

'Netiquette (Internet Etiquette):

  • All posted messages should be "signed" by the author either at the beginning or the end of the message. E-mail addresses do not count as a "signed name."

  • Refrain from using "Reply to All" unless everyone really does need to see your reply.
  • If you must reply to the group and utilize “Reply to All”, please include only the relevant portions of the message.

  • MCCPTA by-laws require that messages may NOT be directly or indirectly related to any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office.

  • No postings that do not pertain to PTA business, please.

  • E-mail addresses should not be shared with people who are not RCES Yahoo! Group subscribers or used for any reason besides school issues.

  • E-mail should not be forwarded unless you have the author’s permission.

  • If you do forward a message, be sure to forward only the body of the message, not the header of the message. (The header contains the author’s e-mail address.)

  • All messages relating to cluster schools must have the appropriate school name as the first word in the subject line of the message.

  • All messages should have a topic in the subject line. If a message does not apply to you, simply push the delete button. The network is not set up to apply to any select group within the school.

  • Only school-related attachments are allowed.

  • Do not provoke, insult, or use all capital letters in e-mails.

  • Do not send virus alerts (unless you have verified them through your anti-virus software manufacturer), chain letters or other difficult-to-verify messages.

  • Do not quote other people or use hearsay in your emails.
  • Generally, if you wouldn't say something to a person's face, then don't say it email or on the Yahoo! Group postings either.

  • The group moderator reserves the right to edit or delete any postings that are deemed inappropriate or otherwise violate these rules.
