Executive Board

President

Leads the PTA and works closely with school administration and the Executive Board to set goals and support the school community. Oversees PTA meetings, committees, events, and the annual budget, while helping coordinate the overall work of the PTA.

Time commitment: Monthly PTA and Executive Board meetings, plus ongoing communication and coordination throughout the year.


VP, Operations

Supports the President and helps keep PTA operations and communications running smoothly. Works with school administration and PTA leaders, oversees membership and staff appreciation efforts, and helps coordinate the website, calendar, and community communications.

Time commitment: Monthly PTA and Executive Board meetings, plus approximately 1–2 hours per week, with a greater time commitment at the beginning of the school year.


VP, Social

Oversees PTA social events and helps create fun opportunities that bring the RCES community together. Recruits and supports event chairs, coordinates event planning, and works with the President to identify volunteer needs.

Time commitment: Monthly PTA and Executive Board meetings, plus approximately 1–2 hours per week depending on upcoming events. The VP, Social supports event chairs rather than being responsible for planning every event personally.

VP, Fundraising

Oversees PTA fundraising efforts throughout the school year. Researches fundraising opportunities, works with fundraising vendors and event chairs, helps establish fundraising goals, and keeps the Executive Board and PTA membership informed about fundraising activities and results.

Time commitment: Monthly PTA and Executive Board meetings, plus additional time as needed around fundraising campaigns and events.


Recording Secretary

Keeps accurate records of PTA meetings and maintains important PTA documents. Prepares and distributes meeting minutes, tracks attendance and votes, and helps ensure PTA records are organized and up to date.

Time commitment: Monthly PTA and Executive Board meetings, plus time after meetings to prepare and distribute minutes.


Treasurer

Manages the PTA’s finances and helps ensure funds are handled responsibly. Maintains financial records, tracks income and expenses, prepares financial reports, manages reimbursements and deposits, and works with the Executive Board to develop and monitor the annual budget.

Time commitment: Monthly PTA and Executive Board meetings, plus ongoing financial recordkeeping throughout the year.

Board of Directors

Quince Orchard Cluster Representative

Represents RCES at Montgomery County Council of PTAs (MCCPTA) meetings and helps keep our PTA informed about issues and initiatives affecting schools in the Quince Orchard cluster and across the county.

Time commitment: Monthly PTA and MCCPTA meetings, plus occasional communication and updates throughout the year.

 

MCCPTA Delegate

Represents RCES PTA at Montgomery County Council of PTAs (MCCPTA) meetings and serves as a connection between our PTA and the broader county PTA community. Shares relevant updates, initiatives, and information with the RCES PTA.

Time commitment: Monthly MCCPTA meetings, plus occasional communication and updates to the PTA throughout the year.

Membership Chair

Leads the PTA’s annual membership drive and encourages families and staff to join and support the PTA. Tracks membership, helps promote membership at school events, and works with the Treasurer to maintain accurate records.

Time commitment: Greatest from August–October during the membership drive, with minimal time needed during the remainder of the school year.

 

Staff Appreciation Chair

Coordinates activities that recognize and celebrate RCES teachers and staff throughout the year, including special treats, staff appreciation events, and Teacher Appreciation Week.

Time commitment: Approximately 1–3 hours per month, with additional time around special events. Some daytime availability is helpful.

 

Webmaster

Maintains the PTA website, calendar, and other digital information to help keep families informed. Works with PTA leaders to keep content current and manages website access and updates.
Time commitment: Greatest at the beginning of the school year, followed by approximately 1–2 hours per month for routine updates.
